Fundraising Tips
Send an email to everyone in your address book. Tell them your story and ask them to join your
team or make a donation. Click here for a sample letter. Add a personal video message to
your email. You can go to onetruemedia.com and create an easy, free video. Just upload pictures, a song &
add some text slides and you have an inspirational video ready to go. Send that same email
message to all your friends in facebook. Change your facebook status to something like, “...will be walking in
the 6th Annual Butterfly Walk for CancerFree KIDS. Please consider sponsoring us in our fight against pediatric
cancer and visit (and post your team’s web address here).” Once
you put the URL in, Facebook will automatically pull up a picture and the first lines of your fundrasing website
text. Wear your 2011 Butterfly Walk T-shirt to your kid’s sporting events, play dates, the park,
etc and use it as advertising. People will use it to spark a conversation and when they do ask them if they want to
join your team or make a donation. You can carry around some pledge coupons and hand them out. It has all the information they need to register or make a donation. Just add your name, team
name & fundraising website address before you pass them along. Coordinate a poker game and/or bunco game with your
friends to sponsor your team for the Butterfly Walk. Have ½ of the “buy in” go towards
the walk and the other ½ be split between the winner & 2nd place person. Ask your boss to
donate “a day off from work” and use it in an office raffle. Your coworkers can all purchase tickets for
the raffle and then the winner would get a day off from work without having to use sick, personal or vacation time.
Do
you work in an environment that is business attire? See if your company can offer “a jean’s day” where
your coworkers can make a donation to your cause on a specific day and have the opportunity to wear jeans/casual clothes to
work that day.
asdfasd Contact local
restaurants (such as Applebee's, Culvers, Sweet Tomatos, etc) and have a fundraising night for your team. Many
businesses will donate a portion of their sales from night from the business you bring in (via flyers) to CancerFree KIDS
in your team's name. You can distribute flyers at work, school, neighbors, sporting events, facebook etc.
Let CancerFree KIDS know about your night and they can post it to their Facebook page too!
asdfasdf Contact
the Kona Ice Truck (Shaved ice & ice cream truck) at pmoriarity@kona-ice.com and schedule them to come to your next sporting event or to your neighborhood. Discuss with him the options
of donating a portion of the profits to CancerFree KIDS in your team's name.
asdf Contact CoCo Keys Waterpark in Cincinnati and schedule a fundraising
event there. You pick a specific date and purchase tickets at a reduced rate, then sell them for more. The amount
you make will go towards your team's fundraising goal. See their website for all the details. Have a bake sale,
garage sale, sell items on ebay or craig’s list and donate the profit to the cause.
